About this deal

The Bino Bandit worked well, although the shape of the eyepieces on the bino means the Bandit wants to migrate back toward the bino body.

It is a mistake that many people new to binoculars make and I feel that it is important to point out that the greater the magnification does not mean the better the binoculars. On eye relief, I had to do an eyecup "surgery" on my Canon 15x50 IS to remove all the unnecessary bits of rubber before I could see the full FOV. In daylight however the optics show a little spurious colour, yellow/green or blue/violet when viewing a sharp edge against a high contrast background.I measured output voltages from a few pairs of cells I have at hand, and saw that the Energizer lithium batteries had 1,7V while the basic white Eneloops had about 1. Even with monopod Jupiter and Saturn were dancing a bit in 15x70, but with Canon the views were rock steady.

Canon 15x50 IS All Weather Image Stabilised Binoculars features optical Image Stabilizer for superb sharp and steady viewing in harsh conditions or marine environments. I spent some time trying to make sense of it and I hope that what I learned will make your selection easier. The steadiness, sharpness and contrast I am accustomed seeing in APO refractors, but not in binoculars, until now. Fitted with their proprietary Vari-Angle prism electronic image stabilization system, the Canon 15x50 IS All-Weather Image Stabilized Binoculars are an ideal optic for bird and nature watching, marine use, or astronomical use.

She was especially pleased with the performance observing gulls and ducks on the Central Park reservoir, a roughly circular water about a half mile across. Anything that isn’t as you would expect, we then make a note of and show this in the condition notes on the page. Higher magnifications may provide more detail, but they can also make the image shakier due to hand movements. Welcome to BirdForum, the internet's largest birding community with thousands of members from all over the world. In spite of the glowing reviews I'd read online, I was skeptical that a bino with such a small exit pupil would be a good performer on the night sky.
