About this deal

STEINER High-Contrast-Optics provide bright, sharply contoured images with natural colour definition for outstanding viewing quality suitable for both beginners and professionals. Above the word "Navigator" there is some kind of figure, like a logo of the series, vaguely resembling a sail (or a wave? I have had several of the more entry level versions and quickly on sold them as they were nothing remarkable.

It started an interesting thread on internal construction as from the video it seemed as though the entire binocular was held together with glue and plastic. These Steiner Navigator Pro 7x30 Binoculars don't have a focus wheel, rather they incorporate a diopter adjuster on each of the eyepieces. Rather unfairly, they all get tarred with the same brush and I will admit to often stating in my reviews of binoculars using folding cups that I would have preferred to have had the twist-up type instead. With its compact design and a lens diameter of 30mm, the Navigator is an absolute lightweight and the perfect companion for spontaneous adventures at sea. Often rather erroneously described as an " Auto Focus" system which Steiner markets as their "Sports-Auto-Focus" system, I prefer to think of them as an "Always in Focus" binocular as once you have adjusted each of the diopters to complement your particular vision the image you see remains sharp and in focus from about 20 meters away right to infinity and no further adjustments are ever required.I did not start out wanting to like the Steiners but I did so immediately , in the first ten minutes of use.

The Steiner Navigator Pro is thereby always sharp from 20m to infinity thanks to the Sports Auto Focus system. Steiner appears to spend a lot of money on advertising and their connection with the military and law enforcement agencies. As with any marine binocular worth its salt, the Steiner Navigator Pro 7x30 binoculars have fully waterproof and fogproof O-ring seals. The less expensive Steiners I will say don't do very much for me but absolutely my experience with my higher end models is that these rank at my very top in comfort (eyecups), clarity , depth of focus, and edge of field performance. mp Whether you're an avid birdwatcher, outdoor enthusiast, or just love exploring the details of the world around you, our discounted optics are your perfect companion. In addition, a new bag is included to ensure that your binoculars are always optimally protected even when not in use. If I was going to use this binocular more often on the river over long periods of time I would definitely consider getting a wider strap, or even better the Steiner Floating Strap (Item Number 76800004 - fits Navigator Pro 7x30 binoculars) which would not only be more comfortable but ensure your instrument is more easily retrieved should you drop it overboard.

I was actually going to try this, but because I was also testing two other instruments and had my camera around my neck, I decided against a bino harness, but I think using one on a canoe could be a very good idea. This was by choice as we were going as a family and thus as well as my camera, we had my nine-year-old daughter as well as our dog in the canoe. Steiner has added multiple coatings of a special anti-reflection material to ALL of the optical surfaces throughout the system and not just the first and last lenses, which is sometimes the case on lesser instruments. In perceptions (versus specifications), the apparent field of view seems neither wide nor constricted.
