About this deal

I highly recommend this biography to every motorsport aficionado and for those who are interested in what it takes to get into the Formula 1 scene and what requires to be a champion like Lewis was back in 2007 and still is today. From this book, I can learn that no matter what conditions, if people work hard, dreams will come through. Now after one season in Formula One, I have the experience to know how to plan my year differently so I can be more structured and have more time for myself and for my family. In 'My Story', Lewis opens up about his debut season, revealing the nature of his fierce rivalry with team-mate Fernando Alonso and his close relationship with McLaren boss Ron Dennis.

If you stick to your beliefs and your true values in life, I believe things work out right in the end. One of the most interesting parts of this season was the inter team battle with Fernando Alonso and the spygate saga so to read about that is good. The whole journey for me, from my earliest days as part of the McLaren and Mercedes-Benz family to Formula One, has been quite emotional. I remember that first week of testing at Silverstone when I wore some other dude’s race suit to start with, and it smelt. I noticed that he does repeat a lot of statements that he either made early on in the book or earlier in the chapters, but it didn’t bother me.

I do hope someone if not him gives us a well written and first had experience of how he got to be on top! I hope he updates the book considering there were a lot of interesting events in his F1 career that happened after 2007. There was, as a whole, very little personal reflection in this book, possibly as Lewis was still only 23 when he wrote this and to an extent didn't have to graft and over analyse his choices as his career had been largely shaped for him to this point.

And the launch in Valencia on 15 January earlier in the year, when we did all the razzmatazz and had those huge crowds and did the ‘doughnuts’ in the streets…So much has happened since – and luckily for me, nearly all of it has been good. Since young, Lewis faced lots of racism from other drivers, however he made those racist comments into great driving skills to prove them wrong. I felt proud of the team for the way they had worked through to the end of a really difficult, troubled year. I think having all that thrown at you in your rookie season and finishing 2nd in the World Championship is impressive. I have gained so much from driving and handling the car, set-up, tyre selection, strategy and the whole range of factors that can make a driver successful.

Hearing how he was raised and his value system makes me proud to be a super admirer of this young man.
