About this deal

Drew Barrymore’s legal emancipation from her mother at age 14, her self-driven ‘rebranding’ as teen-seductress, and her multiple engagements and three short marriages were still to come. In the end though, she is back in the hospital after a second relapse, scared, ashamed, discouraged. Years before becoming a women, you will read about probably the strongest adolescent you will ever follow.

This piece I related to the most, since at first, she so badly wanted her father to be her hero and a faithful, loving father. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. After reading this book, it's amazing how Drew Barrymore grew up at all, let alone grew up to be relatively sane. and “The high-low of our need to stimulate the mind yet find silly things to do at night was just a silly juxtaposition, of course. Not knowing much about Drew Barrymore as a person but liking her work I jumped at reading this when I got the chance.Through reading this, I have evolved from someone who was merely interested in reading about someone who has experienced some of what I have, to avidly supporting Drew and feeling a sense of pride that someone who I don't even know has come out the other side of this.

Being only 15 when she wrote the book she shows courage in sharing these hard times, and I am so glad she did. I guess I can relate to this more than a 'oh my, this is a tragic story', I can relate because I have struggled with the same issues Drew has for as long as I can remember.Faced with an abusive father, the execrable and vicious degenerate John Drew Barrymore( it is shocking to read of the physical and emotional abuse he subjected the little girl to) , a mother who was not always there, and nasty schoolmates, she drifted into the company of an older crowd and began her descent into drugs and alcohol by nine, when she began drinking alcohol, began smoking marijuana by ten (offered it by a friend's mother),and was snorting cocaine at twelve. While I’m sure the book might’ve been written a little better had she been older when she wrote it, it was interesting to get a glimpse into her life not long after the start of her battle with drugs and alcohol. Instead however I had to make all my own mistakes and now I think maybe I should have paid more attention to her memoir.

First, about the physical book, it arrived promptly, in "good condition" and as described, clean, without markings or highlighting, no missing pages or broken spine.Feel free to make more movies, take oodles of photographs, create cosmetics, bottle wine and whatever else takes your fancy but no more books. I always wondered what the circumstances were that led 9-year-old Drew Barrymore to turn to alcohol and then later drugs.

The story is complex and there is the mothers point of view, the findings in her own therapy, dozens of details and quotes from Drews therapists and other observations that do deserve to be included to establish timelines and round out the story. I mean, we all know she gets clean because she is like rockin' right now, but between like her bottom out days and like Never Been Kissed and Ever After, which were like her "come back" movies, what happened in between? Even though I knew the outcome of this story I still was so invested in her journey through unhappiness and addiction. Personally, I had watched a few of Drew's films before getting this book, and had thought her a good actress.

I wish she'd go back and do an update, of course, if I were Drew, I would want to edit out the pictures of me with the Coreys. She gave such good press when she released the book – the stories she told in interviews were funny and sad and everything in between, which makes me quite sure she should stick to being Drew, not writing about Drew! She is a brave woman, who has overcome many obstacles that people should never have to face, but unfortunately do, and she has come out the other side to become an inspiration to people in general, but especially to people who have been through some of what she has experienced.
