About this deal

Since I couldn't connect to either one of them and some of the stuff that they said to one another made me want to puke - I wont dive into them much. The driveway to his home, a castle said to be built on the bones of his family’s enemies, is lined with crosses to ward against his evil.

I recommend this book for those who are really into dark romances and that can read all those triggers.I craved something different, something unique, the cover is absolutely gorgeous, and being that its a new to me author I was willing to jump in both feet! So, there is this plotline about Lucien's hallucinations, how he was abused, the whole Solange thing but it didn't play a part in the story set in the present.

Either this was tamer than her other romance titles, or I'm becoming immune, but this story didn't make me read only in daylight with my hands over my eyes. This book is most definitely not for everyone, WARNING very strong topics of abusive of every kind and could be triggering for some. The main female character is this outcast who is described as an exotic raven beauty with a tattoo that says "invulnerable" on her arm. This book had so many scenes where only Lucian, his backstory and family's history were on the focus. The idea that I’ve stirred this lack of control, made him want me to the point of savagery, it almost feels like too much power in my hands. I could close my eyes and envision the dark gothic mansion built on bones overlooking mystic waters. Isadoras personality surprised me the most, at first I pictured her as a delicate, pleasant girl who had a hidden spark within her waiting to be ignited. I can’t even express how much I felt throughout reading this amazing dark and twisted and yet such a magnificent and lovely masterpiece. THE ROMANCE IN THE SECOND HALF of the book starts to pick up significantly and it definitely gets pretty heated!

There are several overlapping plots in this, each a mystery unto itself, but the main one is Lucian. I loved the cover (yes, I stared at it for five minutes straight before reading) and it didn't incite a single feeling in me that would have warned me what this story held. Little does she know, the castle is a seperate universe from the world with its own secrets that may alter Isa's life forever. i absolutely loved the gothic vibes and was gripped by the unaplogetic wrongness that is the entirety of this book. The story starts off with a nerve-racking prologue that does a good job at making you uncomfortable and keeping you in suspense, an intentional move by the author to stir up your senses. If you love the dark, the forbidden, the complex, the twisted yet beautiful dance with danger in the shadows, then this book IS FOR YOU! So while I loved this book, I can’t gushingly recommend it like I would with any other five-star read.

This is what I expected it to be going in and I think that that's the impression the blurb is trying to leave - we have an isolated, elusive, misunderstood, suffering, brooding H who lives in this castle and is the town's legend and we have this again misunderstood and jaded girl, who goes to work in the castle. Even though I figured out the majority of them, I enjoyed the mystery and the gloomy ambiance surrounding the mansion and the Blackthornes.

There are so many rumors about him including killing his own son and wife, a psychopathic, enigmatic man who doesn’t live his mansion, hiding behind shadows. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If you want to read modern gothic tale, very mysterious, s*icy, suspensful, twisted in many ways, that will keep you on the edge and captivate you.
