About this deal

Not to mention that lighting candles, or anything that produces smoke and ash, in an enclosed space isn't really the healthiest thing one can do for their body. Toate cărțile Hygge ale lui Meik Wiking sunt ca o plapumă caldă și pufoasă, iar Hygge Home nu este o excepție. He is the author of two globally bestselling books which have sold 2 million copies worldwide: The Little Book of Hygge and The Little Book of Lykke.

In fact, there's a couple of pages about how people spend money on things we don't need and on "hygge washing" (how businesses use the term to sell things that you don't need for hygge). This little book of Hygge Home was magical in reminding me the importance of home and how to best cultivate a sense of Hygge within. Hygge, for me, is very connected to the modern idea of Sanctuary, as a special and safe place (physical or mental) to leave the stresses of the world behind, even if only temporarily, and find space to breathe in happiness.A lot of it is about slowing down and paying attention and connecting with others—something I could certainly use to do more of these days! That’s why there are no ads, and any products I mention and recommend have either been gifted to me or bought by me with my everyday wages or donations from supporters.

We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. The book looks at the role our physical world plays in enhancing and helping hygge… and no, it’s not about fluffy cashmere socks and expensive fur rugs at all. It shows who we are and where we have been… a hygge home has personality — it shows people who you are. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Hygge ideas and concepts are even more appropriate in Minnesota winter months, but I learned here that it’s not *all* about the weather. I need to get my sticky markers out and put slips in where the phrases just catch the meaning I need, or where the idea has set me off with a small action… and a lot of the inspiration in the book is for small actions, not big renovations… that I know will make this corner that much cosier, or that shelf so much more meaningful. I don’t get paid for writing it, I’m not in it for the kudos, financial rewards, to become an influencer, work with brands or otherwise make any money from the blog. Admittedly, I adore (and am a little obsessed with) the concept of Hygge so this may be a biased review, as a result! No matter how much space you have or what your budget is, Meik shows how you can use colour, light and space to create your happy place and celebrate cosiness the Danish way. It’s also a tremendously practical book, and full of advice for the home you have now, not a perfect but unattainable mansion. Wiking offers insightful advice on curating genuine habitats for togetherness through treasured textiles plus tactile textures.

His preserved lemons recipe was another point of inspiration: I thought it would be more complicated. It does mention some general basics one needs to lead a happy life, but backs that up with scientific sources. m. Where Seasonal Affective is already raging and we're still more than a month away from the maximum darkness of the Winter Solstice. We spend more time in our homes than anywhere else—but the way in which our homes impact how we feel has remained relatively unexplored until now. When daily life feels increasingly hurried and devoid of meaningful connection, our thoughtfully curated hygge gift boxes, brimming with comforting artisan products, promise to infuse more cosiness, calm and reconnection. This book is a lovely read just in time for autumn, the photos are beautiful, and I like that I'm more aware of how the simple things we take for granted every day can make a huge impact with just a little thought and minor adjustment. I’d definitely recommend for anyone who, much like myself, lives in a cold climate and doesn’t enjoy the Winter months. And the photos could have shown how different people designed their homes for the kinds of lives they’re living.
